Gonzaga scored the first 2 points of the game and never looked back, as BYU fell in Provo to Gonzaga, 85-75.
Gonzaga got up by 19 early and didn’t trail the entire game. BYU cut it to 6 in the final two minutes of the game, but Gonzaga had an answer every time BYU would get close. Nigel Williams-Goss, a former 1st team Pac 12 player at Washington, silenced nearly every BYU run and finished the game with 33 points. The former Huskie took a big step to locking up WCC player of the year honors.
TJ Haws led BYU with a career high 29 points, and Eric Mika added yet another double double with 15 points and 11 rebounds; Elijah Bryant made his first start of the season for the ailing Nick Emery, and finished with 12 points and a season high 5 assists. Emery had been battling flu-like symptoms the entire week and finished with 2 points.
BYU fell to 16-8 on the season while Gonzaga extended its best start in school history to 23-0.
BYU next plays Saturday vs Portland in Provo.
