It’s week 58 of Cougars on Cougars and one of our most exciting yet. BYU Basketball is coming off one of the biggest wins in program history — a 79-71 victory over the previously undefeated and no. 1 Zags in Spokane. Jess was so stoked about the win, she headed straight to Disneyland, and Randi Shamo was kind enough to fill in as co-host.
The episode starts out with Cougs on Cougs’ latest edition of BYU Mean Tweets. That win at The Kennel certainly brought even more haters than usual out of the woodwork and made for some hilarious material. Jess and Mary asked some Cougar fans to read these tweets in a Jimmy Kimmel-esque segment that you don’t want to miss. You may see a particularly familiar face or two.

After Mean Tweets it’s time for Couch Coaching, which was particularly fun after two big wins on the road. BYU took down Portland 97-78 Thursday before heading into battle with the Zags. Elijah Bryant had a standout performance against the Pilots, scoring 39 pts. Eric Mika made sure the world would know his name (#CougsAndHam) after putting up 29 pts. and pulling down 11 boards. What stood out to Coaches Shamo and Blanchard after those games? Watch the episode to find out. Plus Coach Tyler phones in her feedback from Anaheim. BYU has clinched the no. 3 seed in the WCC tournament and will face 6-seeded LMU at 2 p.m. MST Saturday.
FINAL: YOUR BYU COUGARS HAND GONZAGA THEIR FIRST AND ONLY LOSS OF THE YEAR. 79-71

(tears of joy)
Finally, it’s time to round up news from around the BYU social mediasphere with Talk of the Town. As you can imagine, along with the negative attention came positive attention and BYU was highlighted in headlines nationwide. There’s plenty of great tweets to revisit and even a guy who purportedly made an LDS ward program featuring the likes of Jimmer Fredette, Dave Rose and Nick Emery.
Our ward bulletin guy was sick. I had to take over for today. Yes, I got it ready #GoCougs pic.twitter.com/y71nPBiRKi

But before we get to the basketball stuff, we spend a few minutes on football because spring ball kicked off Monday! Woohoo! Randi and Mary highlight some key storylines that came out of the first day of practice (like a name change for a CB). Then, it’s time to dig into Eric Mika’s family tree, say hello to our old friend Luke Worthington, give out some #BYUOscars and much more.
Congrats to my great-nephew, @BYUCougars center Eric Mika, on his 29 points and the win Saturday vs. Gonzaga. https://t.co/QxT5tiwkdK
