Y’all. That BYU Hoops loss to Saint Mary’s was an absolute doozy. And we have to talk about it. But our amazing diversion technique? Let’s talk about football first.

In week 59 of Cougars on Cougars we start out with a “Keeping up with the Kougars” segment, to review how the NFL Combine went for the two BYU alumni who were invited — Jamaal Williams and Harvey Langi. One’s “grade” put them in the “better than average chance to make an NFL roster,” category and another one earned “NFL backup or special teams potential.” Find out which is which, and hear their standout stats in the episode. The NFL Draft starts on April 27. When do you think Jamaal and Harvey will go?

Next, it’s time for Talk of the Town.... Which is usually last, yes, but we’re still trying to avoid talking about the basketball debacle. There’s a new BYU Football baby (congrats to Johnny Linehan and wife Marissa Nimmer Linehan). Kai Nacua is engaged, Jimmer is headed back to the states from China (and eligible to play in the NBA), we figured out who the “Cosmo costume” guy is plus much more. Watch the episode to catch up with all the latest from the BYU social mediasphere.

We can’t avoid it any longer. It’s time for Couch Coaching. In the WCC Tournament, the Cougs came out with a pretty strong showing against LMU in their opening round, winning 89-81. And then there was Monday. The semifinals. If you were under the impression that it couldn’t possibly be worse than the last time BYU played Saint Mary’s, then you were wrong. It was. The Cougars scored 57 that time. This time they only managed to get to 50.

Saint Mary’s annihilated BYU, 81-50 — BYU’s worst loss in almost a decade (2008 at UNLV, 70-41). Yikes. To say the least, this year’s BYU squad has experienced some high highs and some very low lows. Jess and Mary dig into that a bit. Where did it fall apart for the Cougars against Saint Mary’s? How did Gonzaga manage to destroy them (The Zags are your WCC Champs) when we couldn’t manage to make anything happen? Tune in to the episode for some much-needed group therapy. Then let’s all take a collective deep breath and move onto the next one.

BYU’s failure to win the WCC Tourney has made them a pretty sure bet for the NIT. Tuesday they were a projected 3-seed, playing 6-seeded Texas A&M. Wednesday, BYU’s still a projected 3-seed but this time taking on Fresno St. Oh, and we’re in Utah’s bracket as it stands. So that could definitely get interesting. Do you think a shot at the school up north would salvage this BYU Hoops season in some way? Jess and Mary don’t. Let us know what you think. We will know for sure what’s in store for the Cougs Sunday. Keep up with current projections here.

Listen for Jess and Mary as co-hosts on ESPN960 Wednesday!

And Happy International Women’s Day.
