Welcome to week 67 of Cougs on Cougs. As we hoped it would, BYU Basketball announced the hiring of its new assistant coach! And we couldn’t have asked for a better addition. Coach Heath Schroyer returns to BYU after more than fifteen years away. An assistant with Dave Rose under head coach Steve Cleveland from 1997 to 2001, Coach Schroyer brings his own head coaching experience and reputation for strong defensive teams to the program.

Jess and Mary dive in to his background and coaching philosophy in our Cougs and Coaches segment. What does he pride himself on? What is his defensive philosophy? How can he help in recruiting? We also comment on how we think he will change this current BYU Basketball team and what we can expect from him this upcoming season.

Continuing with basketball news in Talk of the Town, BYU Basketball forward Dalton Nixon returned from his mission to Boston last Friday! And he was already back in the gym the next day. Looking good, Dalt!

One of our favorite things of the week is that BYU Basketball’s Elijah Bryant has started vlogging! You can check out his first video below. Please subscribe and encourage him to keep it up! We’re loving the chance to get to know Elijah better. And obviously we are really hoping the BYU Basketball team will make frequent appearances in future vlogs. And Elijah, if you need ideas, we’re full of them. Have your people call our people.
Family challenged me to vlog and here is my first vlog: https://t.co/K6ASaooAbV

Add this to the ever-growing list of BYU power couples: BYU Football’s Butch Pau’u and BYU Women’s Basketball’s Kalani Purcell are engaged! Both of them are incredible athletes and awesome people and we couldn’t be happier for them.

We end Talk of the Town with our take on the new BYU Football “Always Reppin” shirts. What do you think? Love it? Hate it? Either way, it means we’re one step closer to football season.
