The recruiting process has been very long for the 6’ 5” 228 lb Zadock Dinkelmann, but he seems to have made a final decision on the BYU Cougars. Dinkelmann announced the decision via his twitter account.

Zadock originally committed to LSU when he was a freshmen in 2014 and stayed committed until earlier this year.

Other big schools like Alabama and Texas were interested, along with Louisiana-Monroe and Texas-San Antonio. Dinkelmann took an unofficial visit to Alabama during the 2016 season, but was never offered a scholarship.

Ty Detmer is Zadock’s uncle, and that is clearly the connection to BYU. The Texas QB is not LDS, and therefore has no mission plans. He was originally a 4-star QB and is now a 3-star according to 247sports.

Zadock is a pro-style quarterback, but on film, he has several instances of showing elusiveness and even breaking for long runs. His arm strength and ability to stay calm in the pocket are other skills that jump out on film.

Even with Dinkelmann’s commitment, BYU still remains one of the leaders for 2018 blue-chip QB Tanner McKee. McKee is expected to go on a LDS mission before enrolling in school.
