With weeks until fall camp starts and just over a month until BYU kicks off the season versus Portland State, BYU has already locked up a large portion of its 2018 recruiting class. The summer period saw BYU haul in not only a bunch of commitments for the 2018 class, but future classes as well.
It can be hard to keep track of what’s going on in the recruiting world, so we’ll break down what BYU has going on in its 2018 class. So far, BYU has 17 scholarship commitments for the 2018 class. BYU is still going after some high profile recruits, including 5-star QB Tanner Mckee, WR Gunner Romney, LB Merlin Robertson, and a handful of others.
BYU has placed heavy emphases along the offensive line, wide receiver group, and linebackerunit. Tanner Mckee (who will serve a LDS mission before enrolling in the school he chooses), would be the crown jewel of the class. With McKee’s mission plans, BYU family connections, and desire to play in a pro-style offense, BYU looks to be in good position to land the California QB.
4-star linebacker Merlin Robertson and 3-star receiver Gunner Romney are also 2 of the top LDS prospects in the country. USC is one of the bigger threats to land Robertson over the Cougars, while Utah, Arizona State, and BYU are the most likely candidates to land Romney.
Here is each commit BYU currently has for the 2018 class; you can click on the names of the athletes to view profiles that we have previously done at Vanquish the Foe. Commits are courtesy of BYU’s Rivals.com page.
