Cougs on Cougs is out a day early this week, thanks to the 4th of July holiday! We hope you all Rep the Y while you enjoy sunshine, BBQs, and fireworks!

In Episode 72, we bring you another ‘3 Things’ segment featuring our favorite moments of the web chats hosted by BYUtv’s Lauren Francom on BYU Football Media Day. As Mary explained in her article for Vanquish the Foe, we enjoy the opportunity to get to know players, coaches, and alumni better through the fun questions and games that venture outside the typical X’s and O’s talk. Pairings included Coach Sitake and Coach Detmer, Tanner Mangum and Matt Hadley, Chad Lewis and Robbie Bosco, Fred and Troy Warner, and many more. If you missed any of the web chats, you can watch them all here!

Another highlight of Media Day was the two-hour long BYU Sports Nation episode, which featured interviews with Coach Sitake, Fred Warner, Jonah Trinnaman, and Dayan Ghanwoloku. In his interview, Dayan mentioned that the secondary unit had talked about giving themselves the nickname “Looney Tunes”, but that they were having a hard time deciding who should be who. Sounds like perfect Cougs on Cougs territory, no? Does Troy Warner best embody Marvin the Martian? Is Zayne Anderson fast enough to earn the Roadrunner nickname? Which member of the secondary is an unstoppable tornado of destruction like the Tasmanian Devil? Watch our Cougs and Culture segment and let us know what you think of our pairings!

In Talk of the Town this week, BYU Basketball added 6’5” guard junior college transfer Kajon Brown, from Lee College in New Orleans and 6’ guard Mckay Cannon as a walk-on transfer from Weber State. Summer training has started for the basketball team, so we hope to have more to discuss soon! Eric Mika also made his summer league debut for the Miami Heat, and the #BandofBrothers is still strong, just ask Michael Alisa!

Have a Happy 4th of July—we’ll see you in two weeks!
