With his uncle Ty Detmer gone and a potential scholarship available elsewhere, BYU QB Koy Detmer Jr will reportedly transfer to Texas A&M Kingsville, according to a report by Dick Harmon. Harmon mentions in the report that Ty Detmer confirmed that transfer.

Koy has since confirmed in conversations on his twitter account that he will indeed transfer from BYU.

Detmer Jr has been a walk-on during his 3 years at BYU, and will have the opportunity to receive a scholarship and compete for playing at Texas A&M Kingsville, a Division 2 school in his home state of Texas.

Detmer Jr played in two games during his BYU career. As a true freshman in 2015, Detmer completed 3 passes in BYU’s blowout win over Wagner. As a redshirt sophomore this past season, Detmer came in relief duty in the Utah State game after Beau Hoge suffered a concussion. Koy went 7/20 for 91 passing yards and 3 picks.

Best of luck to Koy in this next chapter of his college career!
