BYU released its latest depth chart, and there are some notable changes over the previous depth chart from the Hawaii game. All the changes on the depth chart are documented below.
Offense
- After starting his first career game versus Hawaii, Zach Wilson is listed as the starting QB on the depth chart for the first time this season. Tanner Mangum is QB #2.
- Squally Canada, Lopini Katoa and Matt Hadley all get the “or” designation for RB #1. Riley Burt is listed behind those three. OC Jeff Grimes told Greg Wrubell on “Coordinators’ Corner” that he expects Squally to play on Saturday.
Defense
- Linebacker had the most movement of all the position groups, with a new starter listed at each position. Replacing Zayne Anderson at the flash linebacker spot is Senior Riggs Powell, who has started each game in Zayne’s absence. He is flanked on the opposite side by sophomore Isaiah Kaufusi. Sione Takitaki has moved from OLB to the starting MLB and is backed up by former starter Butch Pau’u.
- Michael Shelton is the sole starter at both the left cornerback and nickel positions, with Tanner Jacobson replacing Keenan Ellis as the backup nickel.
- Two freshmen flipped spots at the right cornerback position, with D’Angelo Mandell now the number two guy and Keenan Ellis as the number three behind starter Chris Wilcox.
