The game will be BYU’s earliest start of the season, with kickoff set for 12 pm EST. The game will be played at Gillette Stadium, home of the New England Patriots.
The UMass Minutemen are currently 3-6 with a good passing game and weak defense. Led by senior QB Andrew Ford, they are 23rd in the nation in passing offense averaging 285 passing yards per game. Their 32.1 points per game are tied for 45th in the country. Defensively, they are 125th in the nation giving up 39.1 points per game. Sagarin rankings have them ranked 140th with the 103rd rated strength of schedule.
BYU will be looking to avenge last year’s 16-10 loss at Lavell Edwards Stadium. At 4-4 and games remaining with Boise State, New Mexico State and Utah, the UMass game will be important if BYU is to become bowl eligible.
