BYU came out of the gates sluggish, but they turned things around late in the first half to come out on top over Northwestern State, 82-57.
Four BYU players finished in double figures, led by 18 points and 15 rebounds from Yoeli Childs; Yoeli has a double-double in each of BYU’s three games. Dalton Nixon tied a career high with 15 points, and TJ Haws and Connor Harding added 12 and 11 points, respectively.
BYU started out 0-7 from three, but ended the game 7-14 from distance to finish 32% for the night. TJ Haws and Zac Seljaas each hit a pair of threes to lead BYU from behind the arc.
Dalton Nixon started his second game of the year and provided good defense in addition to his career night. The freshmen duo of Gavin Baxter and Connor Harding were impressive once again on both sides of the ball. Baxter had four blocks, including 3 in his first 6 minutes of action. Harding continued his impressive start, as the freshman has looked poised and and natural in his first three games back from his Church mission.
BYU moves to 2-1 on the season and will play Oral Roberts Thursday night at 7pm MST on BYUtv.
