A third player decides to transfer this offseason.

A third BYU Football player has decided to transfer this offseason, this one coming on the offensive side of the ball.

Wide receiver Akile Davis announced on Twitter earlier today that he will be “grad transferring” and is now in the transfer portal.

Davis was a three-star WR recruit (ESPN) coming out of De Soto, Texas and has seen limited action on the field in his three seasons in Provo. This last year was his most productive as he was able to total four receptions for 47 yards, with the longest reception being a 16-yard catch against Hawaii. He was also a key contributor on special teams.

Akile hasn’t indicated where he might be heading next. Coming out of high school he was recruited by Bowling Green, Indiana, Maryland, Middle Tennessee, San Diego State, North Texas, Nevada and Toledo.

The wide receiver position will return the majority of their position group next season as Dylan Collie will be the only other WR finishing up in Provo. BYU will return key contributors Aleva Hifo, Neil Pau’u, Micah Simon, Talon Shumway and Gunner Romney.
