BYU Football Recruiting: TE Ethan Erickson signs with the Cougars

Call this signing a Dole Whip because it’s awesome and comes from Hawaii.

BYU added some more depth at the tight end position in the 2019 recruiting class with the signing of 2019 3-star TE Ethan Erickson (not to be confused with the actor who was in the movie Jawbreaker, you know that one 1999 flick we all saw).

The 6’5”, 225 pounds tight end from Kahuku, Hawaii also had offers from Navy and Utah State. Erickson is being recruited as a tight end, but he was also a member of Kahuku High School’s basketball team and is one of the top punters in Hawaii. He took home the MVP Punter award at the GPA Showcase football combine in Hawaii. Erickson told 247 Sports that he is planning on serving a LDS mission before enrolling at BYU.

Looking at Ethan’s film you can see that he fits the mold of current BYU tight ends Dallin Holker and Matt Bushman. He’s comfortable splitting out wide and is able to exploit mismatches against smaller defensive backs.

Back when he announced his commitment to play from BYU on Twitter, he said that he was “1000% committed” which is statistically impossible but is a great sentiment. Welcome to Provo, Ethan!
