BYU Football Recruiting: DE/LB Michael Daley signs with BYU

Michael went to Lone Peak. Tyler Haws went to Lone Peak. Greatness comes from Lone Peak.

The Daley family keeps their blood lines running blue as Michael Daley signs with the Cougars.

At 6’3”, 225 pounds Daley comes from a BYU football family. He is the son of former BYU linebacker Neal Daley and is the nephew of former BYU linebacker David Nixon (who is related to Tasyom Hill by marriage, which should count for something). Daley told 247 Sports that BYU coaches expect him to follow in his father’s and uncle’s footsteps and play linebacker during his time at BYU.

Daley shut down his recruitment early after committing to BYU, and also held offers from UNLV and Air Force.

Looking at his film, Daley played a lot of DE at Lone Peak and can really rush the passer and cause havoc in the backfield. His athleticism can be seen on tape, and he shows off some of that speed at the snap of the ball.

He was the best pass rusher in the state of Utah and finished with over 20 sacks on the season.

You can check out his highlights from his junior year below.
