BYU Basketball is set to play no. 19 Mississippi State Saturday morning in its last non-conference game. BYU comes to Starkville off two losses in a row (to UNLV then SDSU). The Cougars have an 8-6 record overall. This game in Mississippi is one Coach Dave Rose really wanted scheduled for Jahshire Hardnett. Hardnett is from Gulfport, Mississippi and this will be an opportunity for him to play in front of family and friends.
The SEC’s Mississippi State Bulldogs are 11-1 on the season, with their one loss coming at the hands of no. 17 Arizona State. Wright State gave the Bulldogs a scare on Dec. 22, but Mississippi State ended up winning, 67-63.
The game between BYU and Mississippi State tips off at 11 a.m. Central Time and 10 a.m. in Utah — much earlier than the Cougars usually play. ESPN’s Matchup Predictor gives BYU just a 12 percent chance of winning.
