What is wrong with BYU Basketball?

After another pair of losses last week, Vanquish The Foe’s own Steve Pierce and Robby McCombs dive deep into that question and diagnose the problems facing this Cougar team on the fifth episode of our brand new, all-hoops podcast, Shut Up and Jimmer. You can listen using the player embedded below.

Following dispiriting road losses to Illinois State and Weber State, we grapple with the tough questions facing the BYU faithful: Why is BYU so bad on defense? Is it more of a scheme or an effort issue? Are coaches or players more to blame for BYU’s lackluster performances?

We also look ahead to this week’s in-state matchups against a hot Utah State squad and a fellow downtrodden team in Utah. Does BYU have what it takes to garner even a split?

One thing is for sure: We don’t hold back in diagnosing what is wrong not only with this team, but the program in general.

Shut Up and Jimmer is available on all major podcast platforms — including Apple Podcasts, Spotify, Google Podcasts and Stitcher. We’ll release new episodes weekly on Mondays throughout the season, where we’ll break down the latest action from the boys in blue, look ahead to future matchups and maybe even talk a little recruiting.
