BYU will play its second game of three in a row against in-state foes on Wednesday at the Marriott Center against the Utah State Aggies.
The Cougars lost to the Weber State Wildcats in Ogden last Saturday and will face the Utah Utes at Vivint Smart Home Arena this Saturday.
In case you haven’t been paying much attention to the Utah State Aggies this season, don’t be fooled by the fact that they were picked to finish ninth in the Mountain West... They boast an impressive 7-1 record, including a win over BYU’s WCC rival Saint Mary’s in Las Vegas. And they didn’t just scrape by Saint Mary’s — They won by 17. Utah State’s most recent (and another notable) win came against UC Irvine in Irvine. That score was 89-65. While BYU is 5-1 at home, Utah State is 2-0 on the road.
With a BYU Basketball team that’s struggling, and a Utah State team that’s cruising... This game could get ugly. Unless BYU can dig deep.
It is also important to note that this will be Nick Emery’s first game back following his nine game suspension! Will Emery be enough to bolster this flailing team?
