Elijah Bryant’s clutch play gives BYU OT victory over Pepperdine

Malibu, California — It wasn’t pretty, but BYU snapped a 4-game losing streak on Pepperdine’s home court with a 75-70 OT win over the Waves.

Elijah Bryant led the way with 25 points and 8 rebounds, including clutch buckets at the end of regulation and OT to seal the win. Yoeli Childs was the only other Cougar in double figures, as the BYU big finished with 18 points.

After BYU went up by 9 in the first half, turnovers and lackluster play gave Pepperdine a two point halftime lead. The Waves led for much of the second half, but BYU kept things in striking distance for a late comeback.

Pepperdine was 4-22 coming into the game, with only a single win in the last 2 months. BYU moves to 21-7 on the year, and maintains a one game lead over Pacific for third place in the WCC.

BYU travels to San Diego on Saturday for a showdown versus the Toreros.
