It was an overtime win over Pepperdine, then a 13-point loss to San Diego for the BYU Cougars last week. Coming off of that split, and heading into the last week of regular season of WCC play, BYU will face Portland on Thursday night.
BYU could lock up the 3 seed in the WCC Tournament Thursday, with a win over Portland, and if San Francisco wins at Pacific.
As of tonight, BYU can be only a 3, 4 or 5 seed in the WCC tournament.

BYU win in Portland on Thursday combined with a USF win at Pacific on Thursday would secure the 3 seed for BYU in Vegas, regardless of BYU's game outcome on Saturday.
Portland is in eighth place in the WCC with a 4-12 record — 10-19 overall. BYU is currently in third place with 10 conference wins (six losses). Pacific is just one game back (nine wins), and San Diego, San Francisco, and Santa Clara are all two games back (eight wins).
Last time the Cougars and Pilots played, BYU won 69-45. BYU held Portland to shooting just 29 percent from the field. Will it be a similar type of game, or will there be more offense to be had?
