BYU fans are well aware of some of BYU’s kicking struggles over the years, but it looks the the answer to our kicking woes may already be on campus.
Skyler Southam, a former US Army High School All American, is back from his mission and enrolled at BYU. Southam was one of the top high school kickers in the country in 2016, and it looks like his mission hasn’t slowed him down at all.
Skyler posted a video on his twitter account Monday night of what appears to be him booting in a kick from the 50 yard line; that is a 60-yard field goal, in case you’re wondering.

Although Rhett Almond is still on the football team and has been serviceable, BYU hasn’t had a kicker that has been consistent outside of 40 yards in quite some time. If Skyler can improve on the accuracy he showed in high school and bring this kind of leg to a real game, BYU looks like it will have its kicking game locked in for the next four years.
We’ll get to see him soon when BYU kicks off Spring ball in the next month.
