Unfortunately, for the first time this BYU Basketball season, the Cougars lost back-to-back games, first to Loyola Marymount in Los Angeles (ugh), and then to Gonzaga in Spokane. It just wasn’t the Cougars week, as turnovers, a lack of bench points, and giving up second-chance points doomed them in the two losses. It didn’t help that star Elijah Bryant took a hard fall on Thursday night during the game and wasn’t quite as effective as he usually is against the Zags. But as always, we look at the bright spots of the games in our Coaching from the Couch segment, and there were a couple of things to like! No foul trouble, holding opponents to a low 3-point shooting percentage, and a player who had a career-high night against the Bulldogs are some of our things that went right this week. BYU Basketball looks to bounce back this week with two contests at home, first against Santa Clara and then San Francisco.
Talk of the Town this week has to begin with SuperBowl LII, as two former Cougars now play for the Patriots. Unfortunately for Kyle Van Noy and Harvey Langi, the Patriots lost to the Eagles, 41-33. But there were plenty of happy former Eagles players with BYU ties, and we share some of our favorite tweets from them! Football signing day is Wednesday, and the Cougs got an early commit from Gunner Romney, a 2018 wide receiver who could really help the team. We’ll round up some more signing day news on next week’s show. Also on next week’s show? #BYUValentines. Yeah. Scroll through the hashtag and get excited.
We also catch up with former BYU hoopsters Brandon Davies in Lithuania along with his now-teammate, former Gonzaga star Kevin Pangos. We also catch up with Jimmer Fredette with some BYU fans who traveled to China to see him. We mean it when we say BYU travels well.

Thank you to everyone who made it to our BYU-Gonzaga watch party! We wish the game had gone better, but at least we could commiserate together with good food and conversation.
Game result wasn’t ideal but watch party was still straight pic.twitter.com/p4ti2w5Y5u
