BYU Basketball squeaked its way into the NIT and will face Stanford Wednesday night. Stanford is the higher seed (no. 3), so they’ll be hosting the game. For those who don’t remember, the higher seed hosts the first and second rounds of the NIT, before the winning teams meet at Madison Square Garden. The Cougars are the no. 6 seed in the upper right quadrant of the bracket. Scroll to the bottom to see the full NIT bracket.
There are plenty of intriguing potential match-ups for the Cougars along the trail to New York City, but they have to get past Stanford first. The Cardinal found themselves ranked third in the Pac-12 at the end of the season, with an 11-7 conference record (18-5 overall). Stanford’s most recent loss came at the hands of UCLA in the quarterfinals of the Pac-12 Tournament — the score was 88-77.
The Cougars are coming off of a hugely disappointing 74-54 loss to Gonzaga in the finals of the WCC Tournament.
