BYU Basketball made a pretty good showing against San Diego in the quarterfinal round of the WCC Tournament Saturday afternoon, winning 85-79. The Cougars’ reward? A third match-up with the no. 22 (and second-seeded) Saint Mary’s Gaels Monday night.
The Gaels got past 10 seed Pepperdine by the skin of their teeth late Saturday night at the Orleans Arena, leading for less than two minutes of the game in what ended up being a 69-66 victory.
In the regular season, Saint Mary’s swept BYU, winning 74-64 at the Marriott Center and then 75-62 in Moraga.
The winner of BYU/Saint Mary’s will play the winner of Gonzaga/San Francisco for the conference title on Tuesday.
