The dream was not meant to be.

After upsetting St Mary’s in the WCC semifinals, BYU ran out of gas and got bulldozed by the sixth-ranked Gonzaga Bulldogs 74-54 in the WCC finals.

BYU kept the game close in the first half, but a 36-4 run by Gonzaga after the game was tied at 27 late in the first half blew the game open.

Yoeli Childs led BYU with 20 points, but poor shooting against Gonzaga’s defense and a barrage of Gonzaga three pointers during the big run led to the blowout.

Killian Tillie continued his fantastic WCC tourney run, as the French big man led all scorers with 22 points.

Gonzaga shot 47% from the field and 44% from three, while BYU shot 36% from the field and 32% from three.

BYU now awaits its fate as a likely NIT team. Matchups for the NIT will be revealed Sunday evening.
