After word came out yesterday that BYU will play Houston in Provo next season, another report surfaced that BYU hoops will play at Mississippi State as part of the 2018 non-conference schedule.
Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports is reporting that BYU will travel to Starkville to play the Bulldogs on Saturday, December 29.
Mississippi State is coming off a 25-12 season where they reached the NIT semifinals and finished ranked 54 in the KenPom rankings and 55 in the RPI.
The Bulldogs should be even better next season, as they have zero seniors on their roster. Top 75 teams on the road are considered Quadrant one games, so BYU will have a chance to pick up a really nice win against a good SEC squad.
The updated schedule now looks like like this:
- Utah (neutral, Vivint Smart Home Arena)
- UVU (Home)
- Utah State (Home)
- Houston (Home)
- Weber State (Away)
- Illinois State (Away)
- Mississippi State (Away)
BYU still has room to schedule a tournament and another six or so games on next season’s schedule.
So far, the schedule is shaping up nicely.
