After a few years off BYU and San Diego State will restore their friendly rivalry on the basketball court.

Earlier today BYU announced that the men’s hoops team scheduled a home-and-home series with San Diego State with games in the 2018-19 and 2019-20 seasons. The Cougars will be visiting San Diego on December 22, 2018 and then they will host the Aztecs on November 9, 2019. The game in December will be the 71st meeting between the two teams with BYU owning the series with a 48-22 record.

The two teams developed a nice little rivalry that peaked in the 2010-11 season when Jimmer Fredette and Kawhi Leonard were at their amateur peak. The last time to the two teams faced one another was in 2014 when BYU fell lost a double-overtime battle in the Maui Invitational.

The Cougars 2018-19 non-conference schedule now includes games against Houston, Mississippi State, Utah, Illinois State, Utah Valley, Utah State, Weber State and UNLV. Not too shabby.
