Another former BYU Cougar is getting a shot in the NFL as DT Handsome Tanielu received a rookie minicamp invite with the Kansas City Chiefs. Matt Derrick of ChiefsDigest.com reported the news:
BYU DT Handsome Tanielu will be in rookie minicamp for Chiefs, per source. The 6-2, 315 lineman was recruited by Missouri and Kansas out of JuCo. 247 Sports ranked him No. 1 juco DT recruit in 2016 class. Intriguing prospect inside.

The Chiefs are one of nine NFL teams that will be holding their rookie minicamps this weekend.
Tanielu was one Kalani’s biggest coups during his first recruiting class, as Handsome chose BYU over Texas, Oklahoma, Nebraska, Penn State and other big-named programs.
Tanielu was a consensus 4-star recruit coming out of Snow College, but injuries contributed in part to him not living up to lofty expectations.
In Handome’s two seasons at BYU, he totaled 41 tackles and 1 fumble recovery. He played in all 13 games in 2017, and 12/13 games during the 2016 season.
The Chiefs are coached by BYU alumnus Andy Reid, who has often given BYU players more chances than other coaches during his time in the NFL. Former BYU safety Daniel Sorensen started 14 games for the Chiefs this past season.
Congrats to Handsome and best of luck as he begins his professional career!
