Another BYU player has been named to a preseason award watch list, as defensive end Corbin Kaufusi was among the 97 players named to the Bronko Nagurski trophy watch list. The Nagurski award is annually given to the nation’s top defensive player.
The 6’9”, 280 lbs senior will be playing his third season on the gridiron after starting his career as a center on the BYU hoops team. Kaufusi is coming off his best season on the football field, as he led BYU with 6 sacks and 3 forced fumbles, and was fourth on the team with 67 total tackles. He finished off the 2017 on a high note, as he recorded a sack in each of BYU’s final 3 games.
With a full offseason of conditioning and practice under his belt, Corbin is expected to have a big senior season and be one of the cornerstones of the BYU defense.
Corbin joins RB Squally Canada and TE Matt Bushman as BYU players named to 2018 preseason watch lists.
Congrats to Corbin, and here’s to a big senior season!
