BYU gets (north) Bama!
North Alabama recently released its media guide for the upcoming season, and has BYU as a future opponent in the 2020 season. The Lions begin their first year as an FCS opponent during the 2018 season.
With the news, BYU looks to have all 12 games scheduled for the 2020 season. Considering the quality of opponents on the schedule, the North Alabama game is probably a wise move.
BYU will play 6 power five teams in 2020 and some of the top group of five teams as well.
Here is how the schedule currently sits:
Home:
- Michigan State
- Missouri
- Utah State
- Houston
- San Diego State
- North Alabama
Away:
- Utah
- Arizona State
- Minnesota
- Stanford
- Northern Illinois
- Boise State

On one hand, this schedule is fun and what independence is all about. BYU will play quality programs spread throughout the season both at home and on the road. If BYU wins 9+ games with this schedule, they will earn a top 25 ranking and the respect of the college football world.
On the other hand, things could get uggggly if BYU doesn’t have things buttoned up. Other than North Alabama, there are no gimmes on the schedule.
Either way, BYU will know where they stand in the college football pecking order with this schedule. Here’s to hoping it’s not a disaster.
