BYU Basketball gets back on track with comfortable win over Portland

NCAA Basketball: Portland at Brigham Young Chris Nicoll-USA TODAY Sports

Home, sweet home.

After nearly a month away from Provo, BYU (10-8) returned to the comfy confines of the Marriott Center to beat WCC bottom-feeder Portland, 79-56. After a win over the Portland State Vikings on December 12, BYU went 1-4 on its road trip before getting back in the win column versus the Pilots.

Yoeli Childs led all players with 28 points and 12 rebounds on 9-13 (69%) shooting, including 8-9 from the foul line and 2-4 from three-point range. TJ Haws had 6 points on just five shots, but he had a game high 7 assists and finished with just one turnover. McKay Cannon was the only other BYU player in double figures, as he finished the night with 11 points.

BYU had one of its better shooting nights of the season, finishing 49% from the field, 34.6% from three and 80% from the foul line. Yoeli Childs, Connor Harding and Zac Seljaas all hit two three-pointers, one of the few times this season that three guys hit multiple shots from distance.

BYU stays home to next take on Santa Clara on Saturday.
