Coming off 3 straight losses, potentially needing to start the 3rd-sting QB and welcoming the #14 team in the country, you’d expect BYU to be a big underdog, right?
Well, Vegas doesn’t agree.
Vegas released its week 8 lines and has BYU as an early 5.5-point underdog versus Boise State. The line was as low as 1.5 in some places when it first opened.
The Broncos are coming off a 59-37 victory over Hawaii. Boise State’s starting QB Hank Bachmeier went down early with a hip injury, but that didn’t stop Boise State’s offense from rolling up the points.
Bachmeier’s status is still up in the air for Saturday, but he will probably miss the game. Sophomore Chase Cord stepped in for Bachmeier and threw for 175 yards and 3 TDs.
BYU is not without its own QB troubles, as Jaren Hall appeared to suffer a concussion late in the game. If Hall is unable to go, BYU will likely go with Baylor Romney.
BYU-Boise State kickoffs Saturday at 8:15 pm MST on ESPN2.
