No. 11 BYU Women’s Volleyball sweeps St. Mary’s

No. 11 BYU women’s volleyball beat St. Mary’s on Thursday night at the Smith Fieldhouse, sweeping the Gaels in three straight sets (25-15, 25-11, 25-13).

The Cougars were never really threatened in the match. The Gaels kept it tight in the first set through the first few points, but BYU was too much for St. Mary’sand won each set comfortably.

McKenna Miller led the Cougars with 12 kills, and Heather Gneiting added 9 more. Freshman setter Whitney Bower had 24 assists.

Mary Lake was everywhere on the court, per usual. Her impressive dig on this play gave the Cougars a point early in the match. Lake had 6 digs in the match, and continues to show why she is considered to be the top libero in the nation by many.

BYU will host Pacific on Saturday at 1 p.m. BYU is currently tied atop the WCC with San Diego at 10-1 in conference play, with their single loss coming to the Torreros. BYU is 19-3 on the season.
