BYU Women’s soccer won their final regular season match Saturday night on Senior Night, beating Loyola Marymount 8-1 at South field while capping off an undefeated regular season with their seventh WCC Title in eight years.

It all started early for the Cougars, who scored through Elise Flake in the 4th minute and Ella Ballstaedt in the 5th minute. A quick goal in the 7th minute from LMU brought it to 2-1, but Mikayla Colohan’s free kick in the 18th minute sent the Cougars into blowout mode.

Senior defender Danika Serassio would score a screamer in the 25th minute, which was followed by Lizzy Braby slotting another away 20 seconds later in the 26th minute. The Cougars would take the 5-1 lead into halftime.

The Cougars added three more in the second half, with Colohan notching a brace in the 50th minute. Braby got her brace in the 59th minute, and Ashton Brockbank finished the scoring in the 66th minute. BYU rotated their first squad out and coasted through the final 20 minutes.

The win completes BYU’s first ever undefeated season, and won them the WCC Title outright for the second straight year. In a conference with Santa Clara, Pepperdine, and Portland, BYU has still dominated, with this year’s title becoming number 7 in the last 8 seasons in WCC play.

BYU now awaits a potential 1 or 2 seed in the NCAA Tournament. The tournament field will be announced Monday, with BYU almost guaranteed home field advantage in the first round.
