BYU overcame a surprise Set One defeat to beat Pacific in four sets on Saturday afternoon at the Smith Fieldhouse (22-25, 25-11, 25-12, 25-20).

The Cougars were led by strong hitting, with McKenna Miller recording 18 and Madelyn Robinson adding 12. Whitney Bower had 40 assists while Mary Lake had 16 digs.

The Cougars played strong in the first set and built a five point lead, but let the Tigers back into the set. The set was tight the rest of the way, and the Cougars ultimately dropped the set 22-25.

The next three sets were all BYU, and the Cougars never relinquished their lead after building it. The Cougars would easily win Set Two and Set Three. Set Four was comfortable, although a late Pacific push made things interesting for a moment. BYU would finish off the set though and finish the match.

BYU remains top of the WCC in a tie with San Diego, with the two leaders set to face each other November 15. BYU will first play on the road in the Bay Area, playing at Santa Clara on Thursday followed by San Francisco on Saturday.
