BYU kept the starting QB under wraps the whole week, and Kalani Sitake told Greg Wrubell the the “plan is to start Jaren Hall” at QB versus Utah State.
BYU head coach Kalani Sitake tells me the plan is to start Jaren Hall at quarterback; offensive lineman Keanu Saleapaga returns from injury and will start at left guard, with freshman Blake Freeland remaining at right tackle. DL Lorenzo Fauatea and LB Keenan Pili are unavailable.

Jaren Hall started versus USF and played solidly until suffering a concussion late in the game. Baylor Romney of course started versus Boise State and led BYU to the upset win. Jaren Hall received the majority of first team reps ahead of Romney during Spring ball, so coaches felt they’ve seen enough of Jaren to determine he gives BYU the best chance to win.
Referencing the Wrubell tweet, OL Keanu Saleapaga will start at left guard after missing the Boise State game. Saleapaga played left guard last season and started at right tackle this season, but true freshman Blake Freeland impressed enough last week to retain his starting spot on the offensive line.
BYU-Utah State kickoff at 8pm MST on ESPN2.
