Coach Sitake and select players spoke to the media Monday afternoon looking ahead to the Liberty game. We highlighted some of the depth chart and personnel changes from the last game versus Utah State.
Depth Chart/Injuries
- Quarterback: Zach Wilson is back on the depth chart for the first time since injuring his thumb versus Toledo. Saturday will mark 6 weeks since he broke his thumb. Coach Sitake described Wilson “between doubtful and questionable” versus Liberty. Jaren Hall is “day to day” after suffering another apparent concussion on his touchdown run. Speaking about Jaren, Coach Sitake said, “I just want him to be healthy. His life is all that matters to me right now. We’ll just go with what our medical staff says.. We’ll take care of Jaren first.”
Wilson, Hall and Romney are all listed with an “or” designation on the depth chart.
- Offensive Line: Tristen Hoge was not on the depth chart for this first time this year after missing the past two games. His status for the rest of the season is still up in the air. Joe Tukuafu switches over from backup left guard to backup left tackle, and Harris LaChance is listed as an “or” along with Blake Freeland at right tackle; Freeland started the past two games at right tackle.
- Defensive Line: DT Lorenzo Fauatea was hurt and didn’t play versus Utah State. Coach Tuiaki said on “Coordinators’ Corner” that “we (BYU) will hopefully get him back soon.” He is listed with an “or” alongside JJ Nwigwe.
- Defensive Backs: Senior DBs Troy Warner and Chris Wilcox have yet to play this year, but Tuiaki said the plan is to play both the final three regular season games and the bowl game, which would mean their first game would be 11/16 versus Idaho State. That would keep both players within the four-game redshirt rule and allow them to redshirt and play next season.
