BYU Basketball will face its first real test of the season when they welcome San Diego State to the Marriott Center Saturday afternoon.
Vegas released the line for the game today and opened with BYU as a 4-point favorite. KenPom gives BYU a 71% chance to win and predicts a final score of 75-69.
San Diego State (1-0) was picked second in the preseason MWC poll and brings in a talented roster. They start two high level transfers in the backcourt and have have length and size in the frontcourt. At guard, Santa Clara transfer KJ Feagin and Washington State transfer Malachi Flynn both averaged over 15 ppg during their last full seasons at their previous schools. In the frouncourt, they start two 6’10” guys and bring two other 6’10” guys off the bench.
The Aztecs beat BYU 90-81 last season in San Diego.
Even without Yoeli Childs, Vegas and KenPom still like BYU at home. BYU has the better backcourt and shooting, but will have to overcome SDSU’s size and length. A win over SDSU would be a nice win come March, especially with BYU being down its top player.
BYU-SDSU tip off at 2pm MST on BYUtv.
