BYU went to the Pacific Northwest and beat up on an overmatched Pilots team 83-48 Thursday night in Portland.
After a sluggish offensive start, BYU forced Portland into turnovers to go into halftime with a 19-point lead. TJ Haws and Yoeli Childs led the way for the Cougars, with TJ finishing with 22 points and Yoeli with 17 points and 11 rebounds.
After holding LMU to 49 points Saturday, defense led the way for BYU once again. BYU forced Portland into turnovers and 32% shooting from the field and 28% from three. Offensively, BYU shot 48% from the field, 35% from three and 69% from the line. Portland falls to 0-10 in WCC play with the loss and looked like the worst team in the conference by a wide margin.
BYU (15-10, 7-3) stays in second place in the WCC and next goes home to take on Pacific in the Marriott Center on Saturday.
