The Cougars would keep the third set tight with the Cardinal, before pulling away late and winning 25-22. A complete team effort gave the Cougars the set victory, forcing a fourth set.

The Cougars again kept it close with the Cardinal in the fourth set, but after being tied at 14, could not keep up. The Cardinal would go on to win 25-21, winning the match 3-1.

BYU’s road woes in California continue, as the Cougars are now 0-5 on the season in California. In fact, the third set victory over the Cardinal ended a 14-set losing streak in California this season. Fortunately for the Cougars, the next seven matches are all home matches at Smith Fieldhouse, but the competition only gets tougher. The Cougars host UC Irvine in back-to-back matches next weekend on Friday and Saturday, both games starting at 7 pm.
