Cleveland Browns Draft former BYU LB/DE Sione Takitaki in Third Round of NFL Draft

Sione Takitaki is going to Cleveland!

The Cleveland Browns drafted the former BYU linebacker/defensive end with the 80th overall pick in the third round Friday night of the NFL Draft.

Sione Takitaki was one of BYU’s most versatile defenders during his time in Provo. In four seasons, he racked up 237 tackles, amassed 32.5 TFLs, had 14 sacks and added two forced and two fumble recoveries. His 118 tackles in 2018 led BYU and ranked 31st in the nation. Takitaki showed the ability to rush the passer, stop the run and drop back in coverage. One year after fellow linebacker Fred Warner saw success with the 49ers as a second round pick, Takitaki will look to follow Warner’s steps and have a similar impact with the upstart Browns.

After sitting out the 2016 due to personal and team issues, Sione showed great determination in turning his life around to become a leader on the BYU team and eventually, tonight, a high NFL Draft pick. Huge congrats to Sione and best of luck to him in his NFL career!
