BYU Baseball wins WCC #1 Seed, Softball season ends in Stillwater

BYU Baseball clinched the WCC Regular Season Championship and the WCC #1 seed after beating Santa Clara in two of their three games and Gonzaga lost to Loyola Marymount in one of their games. The championship is the Cougars’ third in the last four seasons. The Cougars will face LMU in the first round of the four-team WCC tournament. Here is the schedule for the tournament:

Before the Cougars series with Santa Clara, the Cougars played Utah in Salt Lake City and beat the Utes 10-3. The win gave the Cougars the Deseret First Duel win for Baseball.

Softball

BYU Softball won its 11th straight conference title last Friday, including its sixth-straight WCC title. The Cougars beat Santa Clara 9-2 and 5-3 to seal the title.

The Cougars then traveled to Stillwater, Oklahoma to take on No. 13 Oklahoma State on May 16 in NCAA Regionals. The Cougars fell by a score of 3-1 but would beat Arkansas 6-3 in a double elimination game on Friday. The Cougars season ended on Friday evening in a loss to Tulsa by a score of 4-6.
