Ezekiel ‘Ziggy’ Ansah is expected to sign a 1- year deal with the Seattle Seahawks. Nothing has been finalized as of yet, but both parties have reported came to an agreement per multiple reports. Ziggy will be headed to Seattle on Thursday to sign the deal and become the newest member of the Seattle Seahawks. The particulars and salary information have not been announced.

Seattle has been looking for a veteran pass rusher to fill a void in their defensive front with the recent loss of DE Frank Clark, who was traded to the Chiefs earlier this offseason. They will add a generational pass rusher off the edge, who you can almost expect a sack a game from.

Ziggy was one of the last big names to be signed in free agency. Last year, Ziggy was franchise tagged by Detroit and became the highest paid defensive player in NFL history, at least for one season. Just in one season alone he made a whopping $17.1 million dollars. It is doubtful Ziggy will make that much again, unless he can show he can stay healthy in the future.

Ziggy battled through shoulder injury almost all year and only played in a total of 7 games, starting in 2. In those 7 games he only played a handful of snaps ,however, he recorded 4 sacks in that little time. Although injured, Ziggy showed glimpses of what he once was and what he can continue to be if he can stay healthy.

Time will tell if Ziggy can stay healthy and what kind of contribution he will make for Seattle, but as BYU fans know, the talent is there and the future still looks bright.
