BYU landed its QB for the 2020 recruiting class as 3-Star QB Sol-Jay Maiava announced his commitment on Father’s Day.

According to 247 Sports, Maiava is the 23rd ranked dual-threat QB in the 2020 class and boasts an impressive list of offers. Maiava had scholarship offers from Michigan, Oregon, Utah, Virginia, Purdue, Utah State, Hawaii, Fresno State, among other schools. Maiava grew up in Hawaii before moving to Washington DC before his junior year.

Maiava is a dynamic athlete who improved his passing this past season when he moved to DC. He had a laser timed 40-yard dash of 4.65 seconds this off-season, but also possesses the quickness to make defenders miss in the open field. Watching his film, he can also stay in the pocket and deliver the ball downfield.

Maiava is 6-feet tall, which probably limited his recruiting from picking up even more, but he is a great passer than can make throws from the pocket and on the run. His high school, St John’s College, is the #5 ranked high school nationally in the preseason USA Today Super Top 25.

You can watch some of Maiava’s highlights below.
