Another year, another familiar result.
BYU kept things close in the first half, but turnovers and a punishing Utah running attack were too much too overcome as Utah beat BYU, 30-12.
Utah passed the ball 16 times and had 47 rushes, led by 188 yards on 29 carries from Zack Moss. Utah was up 9-6 at halftime, but came out in the second half and ran the ball down BYU’s throat to set the tone for the remainder of the game.
Zach Wilson finished 21/33 with two pick sixes, and Ty’Son Williams led BYU in rushing with 45 yards on 7 carries and 1 touchdown. BYU put the ball in Zach Wilson’s hands, perhaps out of respect for Utah defensive line, but probably didn’t run as much as they should have. Once Utah shut down Matt Bushman, BYU had no answer for Utah’s pass rush and secondary.
We’ll see how BYU responds when they travel to Knoxville to take on Tennessee.
