BYU opens as 2.5-point underdog to Tennessee

BYU will go into Knoxville as an underdog.

Vegas released its opening week two college football lines and has BYU has a 2.5-point underdog to the Tennessee. The over/under point total is 53.

BYU and Tennessee are both coming off tough losses. BYU, of course, is coming off a 30-12 loss to Utah. How will BYU respond to another rivalry loss, especially after putting so much offseason effort into finally ending the streak?

Tennessee, meanwhile, is coming off one of the most embarrassing losses in program history. The Vols are coming off a 38-30 loss to Georgia State, a game in which UT was a 25.5-point favorite. Georgia State was 2-10 last year and picked to finish last in the Sun Belt this season.

Whichever team can put the loss behind them the quickest will likely be the one that comes out on top. BYU will have two extra days to prepare, but have to travel halfway across the country to play in Neyland Stadium.

This comes close to a must win for BYU, as Tennessee now seems like a very winnable game. A win on the road in SEC country would put a good taste back in the mouth of the program and re-energize the team and fanbase after a tough loss to Utah.
