BYU opens as slight favorite over Toledo

NCAA Football: Washington at Brigham Young Melissa Majchrzak-USA TODAY Sports

After being underdogs in its first four games, BYU will be a favorite for the first time this season as Vegas opened with BYU as a 2.5-point road favorite over Toledo.

Toledo 2-1 on the season and coming off a 41-35 road win over Colorado State. The game didn’t feature much defense, as the Rockets rolled up 547 yards — including 436 yards on the ground — and allowed the Rams to pile up 694 total yards. Colorado State passed for 405 yards and ran for 289.

While we still don’t know the extent of Ty’Son Williams’ injury, he will likely miss the Toledo game. Emmanuel Esukpa and Lopini Katoa are both capable backs, but they aren’t the playmaker that Williams is.

Saturday’s game will be a tricky one with BYU facing some key injuries, an early kickoff on the road and fresh off a four-game P5 gauntlet, so BYU will have to make sure it doesn’t overlook the Rockets if they want to avoid the upset.
