After thumping their rivals to the north, USC will roll into Provo next Saturday as the favorites. Per vegasinsider.com, the line opened at BYU +4 and an over/under at 52.5.
The Trojans looked to be on shaky ground after losing starting quarterback JT Daniels to a knee injury that will sideline him for the rest of year. True freshman Kedon Slovis took over for Daniels in the second half of their opener against Fresno State. USC narrowly escaped that game with a win, leaving many to wonder how the Trojans would fair against Stanford.
Slovis quickly quieted the doubters as he put up a dominant performance, throwing for a cool 377 yards and three touchdowns, putting USC on top 45-20. Now the Men of Troy will face their first road test as they head to the Beehive State.
USC will boast an arsenal of big time playmakers under the direction of first year offensive coordinator Graham Harrell. The former Texas Tech quarterback brought his version of the Air Raid to Los Angeles to help bolster an offense that looked sedated in 2018. The transition to the Air Raid seemed like a no-brainer for a talent rich school like USC, where they’re able to get their best athletes out in space. It will be curious to see how they choose to attack BYU seeing how the Cougars have struggled to stop the run, giving up over 500 yards rushing over the first two games.
The game will be broadcast nationally on ABC, starting at 1:30 MDT.
