BYU Basketball Opens as 6-Point Favorite Versus St. Mary’s

Big matchup in Provo!

NCAA Basketball: St. Mary’s at Brigham Young Chris Nicoll-USA TODAY Sports

BYU faces one of its most important games of the season Saturday night when they welcome St. Mary’s into the Marriott Center. Vegas released its line for the game and opened with BYU as a 6-point favorite. KenPom gives BYU a 68% win probability and predicts a 75-70 final score.

The Gaels are 19-4 (5-2 in WCC) on the year and ranked 34 in NET. St. Mary’s won the last versus BYU in OT 87-84 when BYU was without Yoeli Childs. Most early bracketology projections have the Gaels and BYU anywhere between a 9 and 11 seed.

One story line to watch going into the game is the health of senior guard Tanner Krebs. Krebs rolled his ankle Thursday night versus Portland in the first half and did not return to the game. Krebs is the Gaels third leading scorer and important overall glue guy. He had the primary assignment in the previous matchup of guarding Jake Toolson and did a solid job of slowing him down.

BYU and St Mary’s tipoff 8pm MST on ESPN2.
