BYU men’s volleyball continued its hot start to the 2020 season by beating #3 UC Santa Barbara in four sets on Friday night at the Smith Fieldhouse (25-16, 21-25, 25-21, 25-17).

The win is yet another Top 15 win for the Cougars, who are 9-0 on the season and have dominated their opponents. UCSB came into the game undefeated as well and looked to hand BYU with their first loss of the season. BYU proved to be too much for the Gauchos, and will return to the Smith Fieldhouse tomorrow in a rematch of tonight’s battle.

Gabi Garcia Fernandez was phenomenal with 18 kills on .529 hitting against the Gauchos, with Davide Gardini backing him up with another 12. Wil Stanley had 42 assists for the Cougars as well. BYU had 7 aces as a team, including five in the first set.

BYU returns to the Smith Fieldhouse tomorrow night to face UCSB again. BYU will then host UCLA in their first MPSF Conference game of the season.
