BYU Basketball will play its first conference game of the season Saturday night in Provo against the Lions of Loyola Marymount.
WCC play opened up Thursday for all teams in the conference but Santa Clara and BYU. LMU played on their home court and beat San Diego, 64-58. Overall, LMU’s record is 7-8. As part of their non-conference schedules, both BYU and LMU played and beat Cal State Fullerton. BYU and LMU have another shared opponent in the Nevada Wolf Pack. BYU came out victorious over the Wolf Pack, 75-42, while LMU lost, 72-67.
BYU comes into the conference opener with an 11-4 record. KenPom has the Cougars ranked at 36 while the Lions are 206. BYU last played a week ago against Oral Roberts, winning that game, 79-73. It was a closer game than many expected it would be. The LMU game will be the last in a three-game home stand for the Cougars, before they hit the road to take on Saint Mary’s next week.
